Specialty Polymers
Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers manufactures and sells advanced thermoplastic elastomers. We began production of thermoplastic polyolefin at MCA's Greer, SC facility in 2002. Our major brand, Thermorun®, has achieved significant growth in the automotive air bag door market due to its unique properties which allow it to successfully meet all automobile manufacturers' deployment standards. Thermorun® has also demonstrated superior molding performance and can be utilized for painted as well as molded-in-color applications. Another unique application for Thermorun® is in forming a protective "skin" for automobile interior components. Our advanced thermoplastic elastomers can also be used in automotive parts, electrical wire, and cable coverings as well as for industrial applications including gaskets, weather stripping and grips.
Fine & Intermediate Chemicals
BPDA
BPDA (3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride) has numerous applications and attributes. As a heat resistant resin, Polyimide (produced from BPDA and aromatic diamine) is extremely heat durable. The physical, mechanical and chemical properties are especially attractive at high temperatures. BPDA provides improved water and alkali durability, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and greater resistance to edge tearing. For more information on BPDA please feel free to contact us.
Diacarna® Wax
Diacarna® is a synthetic wax, with functional groups, developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation. Diacarna® Wax has excellent dispersing power and unique thermal properties caused by its functional groups. Diacarna® Wax also has a high melting point, a high gloss and a low penetration value, well suited for pigment dispersants, thermal carbon ink additives, ceramics binders, lubricants of PVC, wax hardeners.
Polytail®
Our Polytai®l products (derivatives) have excellent thermal and hydrolysis stability, electrical properties, and compatibility with non-polar materials.
As an additive, Polytail® products will improve adhesion properties of polyolefin compounds, and improve dispersibility of inorganic fillers in hydrocarbon polymers. As a macromer, Polytail® product applications include electrical insulation, polyolefin coatings, waterborne coatings, and adhesives and sealants.
Ryoto® Sugar Ester
Ryoto® Sugar Esters are a family of surfactants with HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) values ranging from 0 to 18. Being nontoxic and odorless, they are well suited for food, beverage, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and anti-fog OPS film applications.
